Waiting On Wednesday–Parasite By Mira Grant

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine that spotlights new releases that you are eagerly anticipating. This week I am waiting on Parasite (Parasitology #1) by Mira Grant.

Parasite by Mira Grant

Title: Parasite

Author: Mira Grant

Publisher: Orbit

Expected Publishing Date: October 29, 2013

Summary

A decade in the future, humanity thrives in the absence of sickness and disease.

We owe our good health to a humble parasite – a genetically engineered tapeworm developed by the pioneering SymboGen Corporation. When implanted, the tapeworm protects us from illness, boosts our immune system – even secretes designer drugs. It’s been successful beyond the scientists’ wildest dreams. Now, years on, almost every human being has a SymboGen tapeworm living within them.

But these parasites are getting restless. They want their own lives…and will do anything to get them.

Why Iā€™m Waiting

Parasite sounds both creepy and fascinating. It is an interesting premise and seeing how a world might react to such a horrific situation sounds like a real page-turner.

    • Very unique! Plus, it brings up a lot of questions, like would you want a parasite living inside of you even if it meant no more disease? Lots to think about there.

  4. It sounds super creepy, definitely my sort of thing! I have heard so many things about it over the past couple of weeks, I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. Brilliant choice!
