Stacking the Shelves

This is a slower week for me because I am on vacation. So vacation plus the holiday makes for much less time for book buying but much more time for book reading.

Library Books

My local library does not have a Young Adult section so there are a few titles mixed in with the general fiction. Luckily, they are opening a new and much larger library the first week of December. I am sure there be a lot more room for books and I won’t need to order as often from other libraries.

Lola And The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Lola And The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit—more sparkly, more fun, more wild—the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood. When Cricket—a gifted inventor—steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally

Catching Jordan (Hundred Oaks #1) by Miranda Kenneally

What girl doesn’t want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn’t just surrounded by hot guys, though-she leads them as the captain and quarterback of her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys and that’s just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university.

But everything she’s ever worked for is threatened when Ty Greeen moves to her school. Not only is he an amazing QB, but he’s also amazingly hot. And for the first time, Jordan’s feeling vulnerable. Can she keep her head in the game while her heart’s on the line?

As you can tell with this weeks haul, I am trying to branch out and read more contemporary titles. Please leave me any recommendations so I can continue to add the bests in this category to my TBR list.

    • The universally great reviews are why I thought these two would be great ways to start reading more contemporary fiction.

  8. I loved Anna and the French Kiss so I was totally excited to read Lola and the Boy Next Door. I didn’t think it was quite as good, but it was definitely worth the read.

Catching Jordan is currently on my TBR list.

  9. Oooo, Lola and the Boy Next Door. I really enjoyed that one, but it did take me a little to really like Lola. She frustrated me a bit the first half of the book. But by the end, I really liked her.

  11. I thought Lola and the Boy Next Door was such a cute read. I really need to get my hands on Catching Jordan. Every review I have read has such great things to say about it! It’s probably time for me to read some more contemporary fiction again. I’ve been lost in dystopian land for about a year now. 🙂
